Paul Newman is a timeless dreamboat, I don’t know if there’s a woman out there, any age, who wouldn’t agree.
When I bumped into this 70’s/80’s jewelry box, that plays “Rain Drop Keep Falling on my Head”, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid came to mind, one of my very favourite western movies, please watch it if you haven’t.
This box pays homage to the movie. The bicycle scene between Butch and Etta, takes place at her home in Utah, which is why the carving features the Sego Lily, Utah’s state flower.
The 1890’s Rambler bicycle is a reminder, that no matter where and when we are in the world, progress, whether we like it or not, happens. Above all, find some joy.
I’m predicting this piece could be quite collectible one day. The carving and handles are Hermann Oak leather and the dimensions of the box are 11” x 5.25” x 4”.
The music box is wind up, and plays “Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head” when the bottom drawer opens.
